Harris Tweed, 1994

from £300.00

I visited Harris and Lewis to take these photographs on assignment for a Scottish Sunday newspaper supplement magazine. I was accompanying a very talented writer and journalist Euan Ferguson, who sadly is no longer with us. We criss-crossed the islands meeting crofters and those in the tweed industry, gaining insight into the then current challenges they faced in marketing and selling their world-renowned product.

As we left one mill, Euan and I were taken to the store rooms, and told, “choose any tweed you want, any colour. And we’ll give you each 5-metres worth, enough to make yourselves a jacket.” Years later I got that jacket made, and still wear it with pride, a lovely memory of my visit to the islands and of the beauty of Harris Tweed.

Since these images were published in a magazine in 1992, they have never been republished nor exhibited. This zine give them new life for the first time in over 30-years.

All prints on Hahnemühle Fine Art Pearl 285gms paper.

All prints are captioned, dated and signed on reverse, in pencil.

All prints come unframed.

The photographs are printed once ordered, and therefor will be shipped within 10 days.

Hahnemühle Pearl is a cellulose-based fine art inkjet paper with a textured surface and a smooth touch finish. This bright white paper has a specialist coating that produces a pearlgloss finish, providing depth and detail to both colour and black-and-white photography.
